Correctional facilities are provided by the implementation of custodial sentences enforced by the justice system. To protect the general public, our designers create self-contained "mini cities" that satisfy all security requirements and at the same time creating a habitable environment to assist with the process of resocialisation.
The configuration and requirements are clearly defined through directives and other specifications. The focus for the design is therefore based on urban concepts and involves optimisation of internal building configurations to improve navigational routes and the separation of flows of people and materials and the creation of a habitable environment. Integration of the surrounding area is crucial for the acceptance of new correctional facilities by the general public, together with the compelling function for internal security.
