Stuttgart 21 – Airport Link: efficient, modern, forward-looking
The Stuttgart 21 – Airport Link rail project creates a modern, high-capacity connection between Stuttgart and Ulm and links the exhibition centre and the airport directly via the Stuttgart Airport long-distance rail tunnel. A key component is an underground long-distance rail station with terminal buildings, offering travellers the highest levels of comfort and functionality.
As part of the project, we were commissioned to carry out the detailed design (phases 1–7) for transport facilities, civil engineering structures and buildings, the structural design (phases 1–6), the technical equipment (phases 1–4) and the environmental planning (phases 1–6). In this way, we ensure that the project meets the highest standards of technology, safety and sustainability.

The approximately 5.3-kilometre-long double-track line running alongside the A8 is designed for speeds of up to 250 km/h. The project comprises seven railway and five road bridges, two groundwater basins, five rainwater retention basins and around 850 metres of noise barriers, as well as a redesigned motorway junction. A temporary six-lane motorway diversion ensured the flow of traffic during the construction phase.
Thanks to our comprehensive services, Stuttgart 21 – Airport Link is creating a high-performance infrastructure that enables fast, efficient connections and strengthens the Stuttgart region in the long term.
