Rehabilitation of railway line Corinth – Patra, section km 75 – km 90, Greece

Technical Details

The project involves the rehabilitation of the existing railway line of a total length of 15 km, from Corinth to Patra, including service road network, with the aim to upgrade it to double – track high-speed railway line. Along the line, there is the “Aigion“ Tunnel 3.5 km long, 4 railway bridges with total length 363 m, 4 overpasses, 16 underpasses and 8 stations.

Aigion tunnel has a total length of 3.252 m and 3 escape tunnels, spaced approx. every 1.000 m (total length approx. 800 m) and access roads totaling 105 m. The natural ground elevation along the tunnel alignment ranges from +43m to +44m at the portal areas, reaching approx. +114m at the point of maximum overburden. Excavation was carried out in accordance with the New Austrian Tunneling Method (ΝΑΤΜ).
