buildingSMART e.V.
OBERMEYER is a founding member of buildingSMART Germany e.V. This entity was founded in 1995 as an ‘International Alliance for Interoperability“ (IAI e.V.). buildingSmart Germany is the competence centre for digital planning, construction and the running of buildings.
Its aim is to drive forward the digital transformation of the entire value-added chain in the construction sector. A key task facing this association is the further development and standardisation of the open exchange of information in projects. For this, buildingSMART provides open, manufacturer-neutral standards and solutions.
Leonhard Obermeyer Center
The Leonhard Obermeyer Center (LOC) at the Technical University in Munich (TUM) bundles the scientific expertise of the chairs for architectural IT, construction process management, computer-aided modelling and simulation and also geoinformatics. The aim is to create standardised civil engineering models with geoinformation systems in a single system and to make these available for planning assignments with different levels of detail.
The Center was named after company founder Dr. Leonhard Obermeyer. He spent his lifetime committed to the use of the very latest computer technologies in construction planning and assumed a pioneering role in the process.
Computer-assisted modelling and simulation, TUM
A partnership extending back over many years exists with the Chair for Computer-Aided Modelling and Simulation at the Technical University of Munich (part of the Geo Environment faculty of engineering and a member of the LOC). This collaboration begins with the awarding of internships and support with undergraduate dissertations, and also extends to research projects.
Technical environmental protection: bifa Umweltinstitut GmbH
The bifa environment institute, based in the city of Augsburg, was founded by the Free State of Bavaria, the city of Augsburg and the Swabian Chamber of Trade & Industry in 1991. It is a research, development and consultancy institution with a broad range of services associated with ‘Technical Environmental Protection’.
Dresden University of Technology: Institut für Bauinformatik (Construction IT Institute)
Founded in 1986, the Institut für Bauinformatik at the TU Dresden (TUD) is one of the leading research institutions in the Building Information Modelling division (BIM). OBERMEYER and the Institute have been working together since 1995 on various research projects, including with financial assistance from the European Commission.
