For more than six decades, OBERMEYER has enjoyed the reputation of being an excellent construction planner. The company founder, Dr.-Ing. Leonhard Obermeyer, who died in 2011, set up the company back in 1958 as a one-man engineering office in Krailling near Munich and he expanded it over the new few decades into a group of companies with affiliates in Germany and abroad, now with a global workforce of more than 1.200 people.
Founding
Construction engineer Leonhard Obermeyer founds the OBERMEYER engineering office in Krailling near Munich.
Renovation of the Stachus buildings in Munich
OBERMEYER is taking charge of the planning, design, structural aspects and local construction management for the renovation of this transport building and of the shopping centre on Karlsplatz (Stachus) in Munich. These were completed back in 1971.
OBERMEYER is growing
Dr. Leonhard Obermeyer’s team is growing. The company starts to found new subsidiaries in West Germany.
International projects
OBERMEYER expands abroad and opens its first subsidiaries in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the People’s Republic of China.
Reunification
Following reunification, OBERMEYER has been establishing Dependances in the eastern federal states of Germany.
German Railways Project
OBERMEYER takes charge of the overall planning of the new build for the railway line linking Ebensfeld and Erfurt, part of the rapid transit line between Munich and Berlin that was completed in 2017.
Trade fair project in Munich
OBERMEYER is awarded the overall planning of the new trade fair site in Munich.
Progressive internationalisation
The company is concentrating on expansion abroad. The focus is on the opening of new subsidiaries in Russia/CIS, the United Arab Emirates, south-eastern Europe and North Africa.
Planning of the Culture Wave City
OBERMEYER is starting the advance planning, draft planning and approval planning for the new-build of the Culture Wave City and of the adjoining ‘City Balcony’ in Hangzhou, People’s Republic of China. Completion of this major project occurred in 2009.
Big rail project in China
OBERMEYER is appointed as an expert for the planning and management of the project to design the 1000 km high-speed rail link between Wuhan and Guangzhou (People’s Republic of China).
Planning an underground railway line in Vietnam
The start of planning and supervision of the construction of Metrolinie 2 (approx. 11 km), including nine underground stations and an operations building with depot in Ho-Chi-Minh City, Vietnam.
New Al Ain Hospital, Abu Dhabi
From 2008, OBERMEYER is taking charge of overall planning and building supervision for the Al Ain Hospital in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This is the first such comprehensive BIM civil engineering project.
New corporate structure
To reflect the principal markets of the Group, OBERMEYER Planen + Beraten GmbH is transformed into OBERMEYER Infrastruktur GmbH & Co. KG and OBERMEYER Gebäudeplanung GmbH & Co. KG.
Change of shareholders
Jens Ulrich becomes sole shareholder of the OBERMEYER group of companies and focuses the business activities in Germany on the infrastructure sector.
