Matthias Braun re-elected to the Executive Committee
The presidium elections took place on 03 May 2022, the day before the 19th buildingSMART User Day in Dresden.
The function of the Presidium is to guide and advise the eight-member Board of Directors. The board comprises 14 seats and represents the seven member categories "Planning", "Construction", "Suppliers", "Owners and Operators", "Software", "Education and Training / Research" and "Other Service Providers". Each is represented by two renowned experts in digital planning, construction and operation.
The Berlin-based buildingSMART Deutschland e.V. was founded in 1995. Currently it has around 540 members (09/2019). Its mission is to further develop and standardize the open and thus vendor-neutral exchange of information in BIM projects as well as the definitions and standardization of corresponding processes.
Matthias Braun, buildingSMART board member since 2019, about his re-election:
"I am very pleased to support buildingSMART e.V. as a member of the board because the implementation of the digitalized decision, planning and realization process is very close to my heart. Especially in overall planning, open standards are indispensable. My declared goal is the development of our company into a "digital master builder" for intelligently networked sustainable city and building models, supported by open BIM standards and processes.
For the work in the presidium, this means always focusing on equal interdisciplinary exchange with open formats in order to strengthen overall planning in the small-scale German planning environment.
I am committed to ensuring that the decision-makers in our society understand that digitization and the application of BIM methods, is a clear, unavoidable leadership task in the greatest social change since industrialization. Free standards and bold courageous decisions will accelerate the change. We as buildingSMART Germany are preparing the way for this."
