Since the start of building work in 1994, OBERMEYER has been part of a planning association appointed by the Munich trade fair operator, with a key role in planning the entire site in Munich-Riem.

Halls C5 and C6, completed in 2018 in the north eastern corner of the site round off the range of exhibition venues defined in the site development plan.

As well as building & structural planning, OBERMEYER was also in charge of overall planning for the entire transport and media technology arrangements for this site. In terms of transport arrangements, the rapid turnaround times for the exhibition buildings and the individual provision of media technology to the exhibition areas (electricity, telecoms, water, drainage and compressed air etc.) all constituted big challenges.

Construction of these new trade fair buildings during ongoing operations and on-schedule completion in time for the IFAT 2018 trade fair also constituted special challenges in this highly complex project.

High-performance supply networks right across the site combined with sustainable management of rainwater in accordance with city planning regulations have contributed towards the Munich trade fair, ‘Messe München’, becoming one of the world’s most attractive trade fair locations. The planning of technical equipment also included communications, media and safety technology.

Changed parameters made it impossible simply to produce an identical copy of the existing infrastructure on this site. One of the new features is a conference centre to the North East as well as the scope for achieving a full black-out of both buildings, as well as the mobile and uniquely large dividing walls for Hall C6.
